The Directors Guild of America has announced the nominees for its 2011 awards: Darren Aronofsky for Black Swan, David Fincher for The Social Network, Christopher Nolan for Inception, Tom Hooper for The King's Speech, and David O. Russell for The Fighter will battle for the coveted feature director category. Aronofsky and Russell are both first-time nominees, Nolan was previously up for Memento and The Dark Night, Hooper was nominated for his miniseries, John Adams, and Fincher is the only one to have earned a DGA for his commercial work in 2004. True Grit’s Coen brothers were surprisingly left out of the running. The winners will be announced at a January 29 ceremony in Hollywood.
