Shoppers throughout the Northeast were snowed in this week, hurting post-Christmas sales to the tune of $1 billion, according to research firm ShopperTrak. With people unable to get to the stores, many wallets stayed shut during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. There is some good news: sales are up 4 percent throughout the rest of November and December. Plus experts expect consumers to spend the dough they saved over the coming days.
