Michael Bloomberg will return as chief of the company he founded more than 30 years ago, Bloomberg LP. Less than a year after ending his third and final term as mayor of New York City, Bloomberg will take on the business role that made him a billionaire. Current Chief Executive Daniel L. Doctoroff will resign from the role at the end of the year. Doctoroff says he was not forced to step down, but decided to do so on his own accord because Bloomberg became more involved in company affairs. “When Mike decided he wanted to spend some time at the company, and then spent more time, obviously things changed. It isn’t the job I had for the past six years,” Doctoroff said. “It’s his. He doesn’t want to consult with me on everything. I get that.”
