BMX legend Dave Mirra, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in February, reportedly suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Multiple neuropathologists corroborated the findings, which were first discovered by a University of Toronto doctor. The degenerative disease can lead to memory loss, depression and dementia. Mirra's brain deposits were reportedly the same kind found in the brains of hockey and football players who were diagnosed with the disease.
