Bob Dole can't resist criticizing Newt Gingrich any longer. The former senator and vice presidential nominee wrote a statement—published by National Review—arguing that "if Gingrich is the nominee it will have an adverse impact on Republican candidates running for county, state, and federal offices." Dole insists that anyone who actually served with the former speaker in Congress knows this to be true and that's why they haven't endorsed him. "Gingrich had a new idea every minute and most of them were off the wall," Dole recalls, suggesting that Democrats are hoping for a Newt nomination because they know it "could result in a landslide victory for Obama and a crushing defeat from the courthouse to the White House."
