The New York Times is losing another writer: Op-ed columnist Bob Herbert will be leaving the paper after 18 years. Herbert will work on a book and, he said in a memo, a “soon-to-be-announced effort to help bolster progressive journalism.” He said he wants to write “more aggressively about the injustices visited on working people, the poor and the many others in our society who find themselves on the wrong side of power.” His last column will appear Sunday.
