Worrisome radiation levels near Japan’s Fukushima plant are impeding authorities’ ability to recover bodies from the area, Japanese media report, prolonging the agony of family members waiting for answers about their loved ones. A 20-mile area around the plant has been evacuated, but 4,760 people are still reported missing in Fukushima prefecture. Police say they’ve looked for bodies on the streets, but haven’t ventured inside abandoned homes or buildings. They say they believe the numbers of bodies is not very high. Still, many fear that the bodies will never be recovered.
