Authorities in Myanmar have found bodies and wreckage believed to be from a military transport plane that disappeared on Wednesday. Gen. Myat Min Oo, a military spokesman, said aircraft parts were discovered in the Andaman Sea west of the town of Laung Lone. So far, the bodies of a man, a woman, and a child have been recovered, as well as part of one of the plane’s wheels and two life jackets, he said. The Chinese-made Y-8 turboprop aircraft was carrying 120 people when it lost contact on Wednesday, prompting Myanmar’s military to send out several aircraft and ships to conduct search and rescue operations. The plane, heading to Yangon, disappeared about a half hour after taking off from Mergui with soldiers, their family members, and aircraft staff on board.
