President Obama will invite congressional leaders to the White House Thursday to hammer down a debt deal, he announced at a press conference Tuesday. Expressing confidence that a deal would be reached before the U.S. defaults, he cautioned, “I don’t want to fool anybody. We still have to work through some real differences.” Speaker of the House John Boehner wasn't too optimistic, though: Talks "will be fruitless until the president recognizes economic and legislative reality," Boehner said, insisting again that no taxes be raised.
