Bomb Not Noticed for 3 Weeks in Detroit Federal Building

In Detroit federal building that houses Sen. Levin’s office.

Well, you’ve got to admire these guards for not opening someone else’s package. Federal workers in Detroit failed to notice a bomb sitting in the lost and found for three weeks, a union official said Wednesday. A private contract guard apparently found the package outside in late February, then brought it into the building and put it in the lost and found. The guard has since been suspended. The package sat in lost and found until March 18, when someone decided to X-ray it—and they discovered it was a bomb. The FBI is investigating the incident. The downtown Detroit building where the package sat houses the FBI, U.S. Sen. Carl Levin's office, the Social Security Administration, and other federal offices.
