The mother of suspected Boston Marathon bombers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev has insisted that her sons are innocent, echoing their father’s statement that they were framed by police. “I am 100 percent sure that this is a setup,” Zubeidat Tsarnaeva told Russia Today in a broadcast phone interview. Mrs. Tsarnaeva also said that the FBI had previously contacted her about her eldest son because of his extremist views. “The FBI was scared of my eldest son,” she said. “They called me at first and said my son is an excellent boy. They always told me that he is a leader.” She added that the elder brother “never told me that he would be on the side of Jihad” and that her younger son was raised in the U.S. “It’s impossible for them to do such things,” she concluded.
