A radical Muslim sect known as Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in northeast Nigeria that have killed at least 67 people. The attacks began on Friday night with a car bomb outside a military office in Damatura, then continued as gunmen rampaged through the town. Shortly before the Damatura attacks, four bombs exploded in Maiduguri, 80 miles to the east. Boko Haram is fighting a bloody sectarian war with Nigeria's central government. Their name means “Western education is sacrilege” in the local language.
