Details are beginning to emerge about the rescue of a 5-year-old boy who had been kidnapped and held in an underground bunker in Alabama. Federal agents practiced the rescue in a mock bunker near the scene, while watching the movements of the 65-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes through a camera they’d snuck into his hideout. On Monday, after observing Sykes holding a gun, four agents approached the bunker as if to deliver food, which they’d done for nearly a week. Instead, they delivered a stun grenade, and Dykes shot at them, law-enforcement officials say. They returned fire, killing him. Authorities say they found two explosives in the bunker. The boy, Ethan, is in good condition and celebrates his 6th birthday today.
