Bond Author Apologizes to Idris Elba

James Bond author Anthony Horowitz apologized Tuesday for saying actor Idris Elba was “too rough... too street” to play 007. Last year, The Daily Beast reported the chief of Sony Pictures Entertainment wanted the British-born black actor wanted to play the super spy after Daniel Craig relinquishes the role. Horowitz was asked about Elba by the Daily Mail on Tuesday. “Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better,” naming Adrian Lester as one. “For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”
