Kenyan runner Lawrence Cherono won the Boston Marathon Monday, edging out Lelisa Desisa in a last-minute sprint to the finish line. The Washington Post reports that according to unofficial times, Cherono finished the race in 2:07:59, while Desisa, who won the race in 2017 and 2018, clocked in one second later at 2:08:00. On the women’s side, the victory was much more definitive: 28-year-old Ethiopian runner Worknesh Degefa finished far ahead of her competition with a winning time of 2:23:30. Daniel Romanchuk, an American, won the push-wheelchair version of the race, while Manuela Schar of Switzerland won the women’s competition.
