Olympic organizers are finally giving Boston’s disgruntled public what it wants. A statewide referendum on the city’s bid to host the Summer Games will be included on the November 2016 ballot. The embattled Boston 2024 organizers say they hope the measure will give people a sense of more transparency with the organization, and promise to abandon their efforts to secure the Games if they don’t get a majority support. In surveys, only one-third of Bostonians say they back the bid.
