Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is expected to plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy charges, AP reported Friday. Berghdahl was held captive by the Taliban for five years after abandoning his Afghanistan post and was freed in 2014. By pleading guilty the 31 year old will avoid a trial and could face up to five years for desertion and a life sentence for misbehavior. He had previously asked that a judge decide his fate, rather than a military jury. During his 2016 campaign President Trump called Bergdahl a “no-good traitor” who “should have been executed.”
