A senior aide for Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly attempted to bring marijuana into the Hart Senate Office Building, police said. Marcus Stanley, who resigned his position as a senior economic adviser immediately following his arrest, allegedly attempted to “remove and conceal” a “leafy green substance” during a security screening, which police confiscated and tested. Stanley, who has worked on Capitol Hill since 2007, joins a growing number of people arrested for attempting to bring marijuana onto Capitol grounds, and he is the fourth Hill aide to be arrested this year. Marijuana legalization is a big issue in California, and Boxer has come out against Proposition 19, which would legalize and tax the drug.
