When film director James Cameron approached BP to offer his help in stopping the oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, he was politely rebuffed. Perhaps the oil company was not aware just how much expertise he brought to the situation. More than just an expert on sinking ocean liners and tribes of blue people, Cameron has spent years developing technology for deep-sea observation. He thought that he could help with imaging the site. "Over the last few weeks I've watched, as we all have, with growing horror and heartache, watching what's happening in the Gulf and thinking those morons don't know what they're doing," Cameron said. This week he also participated in a meeting at EPA headquarters to brainstorm solutions.
