The Gulf disaster has riled many politicians, but movie stars aren’t happy about it either. In a new Spike Lee documentary, Inglorious Basterds star Brad Pitt, who’s also the philanthropist behind Make It Right, an affordable- and sustainable-housing project in a New Orleans neighborhood hit hard by Hurricane Katrina, slams BP for the disastrous Gulf oil spill. Pitt even says he would consider capital punishment for those behind the Deepwater Horizon disaster. “I was never for the death penalty before,” he said. “I am willing to look at it again.” The HBO film, If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise, marks the fifth anniversary of the hurricane and will debut Monday night.
