Apparently there’s been a break in the cold case of Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or Notorious B.I.G. Two sources tell CNN that a task force made up of local and federal law-enforcement agencies is actively pursuing leads. The investigation into the 1997 murder was “reinvigorated” several months ago, according to one source, as a result of new information. Theories abound regarding Wallace’s murder, the prevailing one being that it was payback for the murder of Tupac Shakur six months earlier. Retired Los Angeles Police Detective Russell Poole, who worked on the Wallace case, says Shakur’s record label’s owner ordered the hit from prison, and that a rogue policeman helped carry it out.
