The ratings for Breaking Bad’s Season 5 premiere are in, and they’re good enough to make even Walter White trade in his grimace for a smile. Sunday night’s episode of AMC’s Emmy-winning drama was seen by 2.9 million viewers, making it the most watched episode in the history of the series. That’s an uptick of 14 percent from last year’s debut. Even more impressive, the episode saw an increase of 34 percent in the coveted 18-49 demo. When numbers for the premiere’s encore later that night are factored in, the episode scored 3.5 million total viewers. AMC announced in August that these final 16 episodes will be the show’s last.
