A damning report by British lawmakers has suggested that Britain’s most successful cyclist, Sir Bradley Wiggins, abused medical exemptions on therapeutic drugs to boost his performance. The report alleges that Wiggins—and possibly other members of Team Sky—took powerful corticosteroids to prepare for the 2012 Tour de France. The report said Wiggins received an exemption for the drug triamcinolone and that “he benefited from the performance-enhancing properties of this drug during the race.” The report conceded this did not “constitute a violation of the World Anti-Doping Agency code” but said it crossed an “ethical line.” Wiggins said on Twitter: “I find it so sad that accusations can be made, where people can be accused of things they have never done which are then regarded as facts. I strongly refute the claim that any drug was used without medical need. I hope to have my say in the next few days and to put my side across.”
