Two young British men have been sentenced to four years in prison each for posting messages on Facebook inciting people to riot—even though no riots ended up taking place. The sentences for Jordan Blackshaw and Perry Sutcliffe-Keenan are sparking criticism from Liberal Democrats. "This should be about restorative justice…it should not be about retribution," the party’s home-affairs spokesman said. However, the Liberal Democrats’ leader, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, also promised a “riot payback scheme,” where rioters will wear orange jumpsuits and be required to clean up the areas they damaged. Clegg also announced an “independent communities and victims panel” to examine the causes of the riots.
