Brock Turner has been banned for life by the national governing body of competitive U.S. swimming in the aftermath of his conviction for raping an unconscious woman behind a dumpster at Stanford University. Turner’s membership with the organization expired in late 2014, and he raped the unnamed victim in January 2015. USA Swimming’s ban on the 20-year-old cuts him off from ever participating at the Olympic Games. In a statement obtained by ABC News, organization spokesman Scott Leightman said “Had he been a member, he would have been subject to the USA Swimming Code of Conduct. USA Swimming strictly prohibits and has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct, with firm Code of Conduct policies in place, and severe penalties, including a permanent ban of membership, for those who violate the Code of Conduct.”
