Brooklyn Wants the Democratic Convention

First the VMAs, now this? New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Friday that Brooklyn will vie to host the Democratic National Convetion in 2016, with the Barclays Center as the anchor venue and other events spread across the city’s other four boroughs. “The progressive spirit of New York City has never been stronger or more vibrant than it is today,” the mayor wrote in a letter presenting the bid. “We believe that this spirit can energize and captivate both the Democratic Party and the nation.”
