Burberry debuted its fall/winter 2011 collection in a big way Monday as part of London Fashion Week. Though designer Christopher Bailey showed off his collection from a massive tent in Hyde Park, the show was also live streamed from Piccadilly Circus’ big screen and on the Web for more than 100 countries. As Dusty Springfield played in the background, Bailey’s largely orange, red, and olive looks came down the runway, with boxy coats and traditional military trenches. By the end of the show, snow fell as models in rain capes and white fur trenches took to the catwalk. “The sophistication of the graphics and the intensity of decoration, created within a streamlined silhouette, is impressive,” reviewed The New York Times. “But Burberry has to be careful that its brilliant and forward-looking embrace of the Internet does not leave too much behind—especially that ironic take on tradition, the British countryside, and the brand heritage that Mr. Bailey can tweak so well.”
