Where’s the Beef?

Burrito Price Hike Causes Shootout

This better not be some sort of viral marketing campaign. A well-armed Taco Bell customer flew into a rage when he found out that the seven Beefy Crunch burritos he ordered had gone up in price. When told that they would cost $1.49 each rather than the 99 cents he expected, he pulled out a BB gun and fired it at the store manager. The man "pointed a gun at me, and he fired it. I leaned to the side and there was a pop but nothing happened,” said Brian Tillerson. But the man had real guns, too, and after Tillerson saw him put an assault rifle on the top of his car, he called the police. When the officers arrived, the man fired several shots at the police and fled to his hotel room, where a three-hour standoff ended when police lobbed tear gas inside and the man surrendered. He never got his burritos.
