As Alice in Wonderland is expected to reign at the top of the box office for the third week in a row this weekend, Tim Burton fans now have another multi-dimensional project to look forward to: The Addams Family. Deadline.com exclusively reported Thursday that the eccentric director has his eyes set on creating a 3-D, stop-motion, animated feature based on the drawings by Charles Addams. The film will not concern itself with the storylines of decades of television shows, movies, and musicals based on the quirky family, according to the Web site. Universal's Illumination Entertainment has acquired the rights to the Addams' drawings and its chief, Chris Meledandri, will produce the feature. Burton is also reportedly working on a feature version of his 1984 short film Frankenweenie, about a boy who reanimates his dead dog.
