With America in the hands of new leaders, former leader of the free world George W. Bush goes where many an ex-president has gone before: The speaking circuit. First stop: Calgary, in the Canadian territory of Alberta, for a private appearance with an organization known to pay a cool six figures for US heavyweights. (Bill Clinton earned $150,000 for a 2006 speech in Edmonton hosted by the same company.) Though organizers will reveal neither Bush’s compensation nor ticket prices, experts speculate that the appearance will be Bush’s “first thimbleful of money back into the old coffers” in a space safely tucked away from the shoe-throwing masses.
