Yes, after Barbara Bush had a miscarriage, she asked doctors to save the dead baby so she could show it to her son, Bush will reveal in a candid interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer airing this evening. On a subsequent hospital visit, she calmly motioned to the jar and said, “Here’s the fetus.” The traumatizing episode contributed to Bush’s pro-life stance, causing him to move far right on the abortion and stem-cell debates. “There's no question that affected me, a philosophy that we should respect life,” said Bush in the memoir. “There was a human life, a little brother or sister.”
