BuzzFeed is suing the Democratic National Committee over its refusal to release information about how Russians hacked into its servers during the 2016 election, according to Vanity Fair. BuzzFeed, which published the Steele dossier alleging connections between President Donald Trump and Russia, believes that the information would help it fend off a libel suit filed by Russian billionaire Aleksej Gubarev, who is named in the dossier. According to Vanity Fair, BuzzFeed believes the information that the DNC refuses to release “could show a link between Gubarev and the e-mail hacking, which would undercut his libel claim.” The DNC, meanwhile, argues that doing so would make it susceptible to more cyberattacks.
