Just add coffee and the Mona Lisa becomes Mona Latte and Grant Wood’s American Gothic turns into Americano Gothic. These coffee additive artworks are Karen Eland's curious takes on recreating masterpieces using one of her favorite beverages. Eland abandoned watercolors 10 years ago when sitting in a coffee shop mulling over her espresso. The drink's brown hue evoked the colors she was using, and since then she's created an entire market for herself. Her coffee-inspired art sells for more than $20,000. In a nod to her hot muse, Eland sneaks a coffee cup into a painting whenever she can.
