Herman Cain’s momentum gets official sanction Tuesday night, as the Washington Post/Bloomberg debate planners have seated him center stage, next to Mitt Romney. The decision comes as the latest Gallup poll shows Cain’s support tripling since mid-September: he now polls at 18 percent, just 2 points behind Romney’s 20 percent. Rick Perry, meanwhile, has tumbled to 15 percent—a fact not lost on the debate planners. Once Romney’s foil in debates, he has now been shunted to Cain’s right side.
