California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill on Sunday that will permit undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers’ licenses in the Golden State. The legislation allows the California DMV to issue licenses to illegal immigrants eligible for work permits under a new Obama administration policy that doesn’t seek to deport undocumented students who live and work in the U.S. Those looking to obtain a license will need to provide to the DMV whatever document the federal government eventually gives to participants in the program as proof of residence.
