California Prosecutor Under Investigation for Violent Comments About Maxine Waters

A Southern California prosecutor is under investigation for a series of “discriminatory” social media rants aimed at Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), former first lady Michelle Obama, and Mexican immigrants. Deputy District Attorney Michael Selyem, the lead prosecutor for a gang unit at the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, is said to have taken issue with Waters’ criticism of President Trump in a Facebook post. “Being a loud-mouthed cunt in the ghetto you would think someone would have shot this bitch by now,” Selyem wrote, according to The San Bernardino Sun. The comments came shortly after Trump himself claimed Waters had “called for harm” to his supporters. Selyem also reportedly took to social media to mock the victim of a fatal police shooting, write discriminatory posts about Mexicans, and post a lewd photo of Michelle Obama. Officials said Monday that they were tipped off to Selyem’s comments by someone in the district attorney’s office and have placed the prosecutor on administrative leave, after which he may be fired.
