Cambodia Forcing COVID Patients Into Prison-Like Camps

No one can leave until they test negative.

Cambodia is responding to a coronavirus outbreak by forcing men, women, and children who test positive into prison-like quarantine camps where they must stay until they are negative. The New York Times reports that the 21 centers—some of which used to be fancy event venues—are crowded, lit up at all hours, and controlled by security forces. The country is recording 900 new cases a day despite a robust vaccination program.
