Life’s not so hard-knocked for Cameron Diaz. The actress has just been cast in the upcoming remake of the musical Annie. She’ll play the dastardly orphanage proprietor, Miss Hannigan, opposite Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhané Wallis, who will play Annie. Annie debuted on Broadway in 1977 (a revival is currently playing on the Great White Way starring Glee’s Jane Lynch) and became a hit feature film in 1982 with Carol Burnett playing Miss Hannigan. We’re all hoping that Diaz’s singing voice is better than what she showed off in the infamous karaoke scene from My Best Friend’s Wedding.
