Cameron Wants to Mine Asteroids

A new company called Planetary Resources got serious star power this week when director James Cameron and a couple Google billionaires threw their weight behind its plan to mine asteroids near Earth. Asteroids are rich in minerals like iron and nickel, and the company thinks it may have a plan to make those resources usable. While the company has been stingy with details on its space-faring venture, Planetary Resources is headed up by Chris Lewicki, former NASA Mars mission manager.
