Can Twilight Trump Harry Potter?

Harry Potter may have sold more than 400-million copies worldwide, but as the sixth movie installment nears its release date (July 12th), Potter faces a rival not found within the walls of Hogwarts: Edward Cullen, the brooding, attractive vampire of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series. The four-part series has already spent 100 weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list while last May—after 10 years on the list—Harry Potter has fallen off. Twilight (whose first movie raked in $382 million world-wide) seems to appeal to aging Harry Potter readers. Many find a lot more in common with the more mature, realistic characters of Twilight although the two fan bases still do overlap.
