Canada has decided to cut its diplomatic staff in Cuba by up to half after another individual was affected by a mysterious illness, Reuters reports. The affected individuals among Canada's diplomatic staff, which is now up to 14 since 2017, reportedly experienced “dizziness, headaches and nausea.” “A further reduction in the (Canadian embassy) footprint is deemed to be the appropriate response,” a government official told reporters on Wednesday. Canada is one of Cuba's most important economic partners, providing $790 million in 2017 trade and a huge tourism market. American diplomats in Cuba also experienced strange, baffling symptoms beginning in spring 2017, prompting the U.S. to pull diplomatic staff to only keep a “maximum of 18” there.
