In preparation for ambassadorship to Japan, Caroline Kennedy has disclosed her financial information—revealing a personal fortune that could be as much as $500 million, the New York Post reported Monday. Kennedy declined to release the data in 2008, and then withdrew her request to be nominated for Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat. At that time, she was estimated to be worth between $100 and $250 million. But sources say it looks like she could be worth $250 to $500 million. She reportedly earns between $12 million and $30 million from her trust and investments, as well as an estimated $1 million from speaking engagements and royalties from books. Kennedy reportedly has positions in at least half a dozen firms, including the Arctic Royalty Limited Partnerships, which relate to two family-owned oil companies.
