Attorneys defending accused murderer Casey Anthony rested their case Thursday afternoon without ever calling their client to the stand to testify. They also rested without bringing forward witnesses to back up a claim made during opening statements that Caylee Anthony, 2, drowned accidentally and that Casey Anthony then covered it up, nor the claim that Anthony behaved remorselessly after the death of her daughter because sexual abuse by her father at a young age left her with emotional problems. Prosecutors will now make a rebuttal, expected to last about a day, followed by closing arguments. Anthony could face the death penalty if convicted.
