Casey Kasem, the 82-year-old former host of American Top 40, is in critical condition at a hospital in Washington state. Kasem is receiving antibiotics through IVs, blood-pressure support medicine, as well as care for bed sores. Kasem was put in the hospital after one of his children and an ambulance took him from the house where he was staying with his wife. A patient’s condition can be both stable and critical if the status is bad but not getting worse. The former radio host has Lewy body disease, a common type of progressive dementia. Kasem has been the subject of a dispute between the children from his first marriage, and his wife of 34 years, Jean Kasem.
