Another twist in the already sickening story of Ohio kidnapper Ariel Castro came on Friday. According to interrogation tapes obtained by NBC, Castro called the mother of victim Amanda Berry at some point after the initial kidnapping and told her that Berry was O.K. and was now his wife. The tapes show Castro discussing the call, saying he hung up on Berry's mother "so we didn't have a conversation." He also pointed out multiple failed efforts on the part of authorities to find him, including watching the surveillance cameras from outside victim Gina DeJesus's school. Castro hung himself in his prison cell a month after being sentenced to life plus 1,000 years.
