‘Catfish’ Star Nev Shulman Breaks Neck in Bike Accident
‘LUCKY TO BE HERE’
Nev Shulman, the controversial star of 2010’s Catfish documentary and host of its spin-off series on MTV, revealed on Instagram this weekend that a recent bike accident left him hospitalized with a broken neck. “I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike,” Shulman wrote, recounting a collision with a truck that left him “alone and unconscious” on the pavement. “I broke my neck. C5 and C6 to be exact. Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a question mark there for a minute but the human body is incredible and so are HUMANS.” After thanking the medical professionals who took care of him, he added, “It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear from the doctors about how many people with similar injuries will never walk again. I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery.” Catfish: The TV Show was recently renewed for a ninth season on MTV and before that, Shulman parlayed his fame into a second place finish on the 29th season of Dancing With the Stars.
