CBS Anchor Bob Schieffer to Retire

CBS anchor Bob Schieffer announced plans Wednesday to retire this summer after more than five decades in journalism. Speaking at the annual Schieffer Symposium at his alma mater Texas Christian University, the Face of the Nation host announced his retirement. The 78-year-old has worked for CBS News for 46 years, winning nearly every broadcast journalism award, including eight Emmys, the Overseas Press Club Award, and the Edward R. Murrow Award. Schieffer was named a living legend by the Library of Congress in 2008 and inducted into the National Academy of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame in 2013.
