A day after telling reporters that female tennis players owe their success to male stars, Indian Wells CEO and tournament director Raymond Moore has stepped down from his role, owner Larry Ellison announced in a statement Monday night. Moore drew ire from the tennis community after he said female players ride on the coattails of men during an interview at the BNP Paribas Open. The tournament director later apologized for his comments, but prompted backlash from athletes including Serena Williams and the legendary Billie Jean King.
