On Monday, the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce went after Republicans on immigration reform in a big way. Although meant somewhat in jest, President Tom Donohue said that if the GOP can’t pass immigration reform, “they shouldn’t bother to run a candidate in 2016. Think about that. Think about who the voters are. I just did that to get everybody’s attention.” Donohue has been pushing House Republicans to overhaul immigration laws for months. While many Republicans have backed immigration reform as a way to woo Hispanic voters, other conservative members have criticized the overhaul as a job-killer for Americans.
