The empire of chic got a little bit chicer last night at the premiere of Anne Fontaine’s movie, Coco Avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel) at the Champs-Elysees. The glamorous biopic covers the designer’s early life, and culminates in her debut runway show. Audrey Tautou, who plays Chanel in the movie, graced the premiere wearing (what else?) a white strapless dress from Chanel’s new collection. She told Women’s Wear Daily that it wasn’t hard to get into character—Tautou hails from the same region of France as Chanel, and her grandmother taught her to sew as a child. “Obviously I had neither the taste nor the talent of Coco Chanel,” Tautou said.
